Wendy Meagher has been designing and making "vintage look" collectible mohair teddy bears, pandas, and hares. Each piece is handmade the traditional way, using only the finest materials such as German and English mohair, wood wool for filling, aged German glass eyes, fully jointed bodies and aged leather or wool for paw pads. Often, vintage clothing, fabrics, trims and accessories are used to create one-of-a-kind pieces for her collectors.
Being an obsessive collector of antiques and old "finds", Meagher enjoys creating bears that have that old and time-worn look. "I love vintage bears myself, therefore I try to reproduce that look and feel in my bears", she adds.
In addition to making bears, Wendy has been a Systems Analyst/Computer Programmer for over 20 years. She finds it very challenging to juggle time between her increasing demands from her successful teddy bear business with her computer consulting business. She smiles and she says, " I have a wonderful support group including my husband, two daughters, a golden retriever and my three horses!"
Most pieces are limited editions and can be found in many fine shops across the country or can be ordered directly from the artist.
