Maria Miller Pahls has been working with spun cotton since 2002. Her techniques are based on original methods and include reproductions and original works. Preserving the tradition of cottage industry by limiting production and the belief that each piece should be unique are the basis of her work ethic.
With a background in doll making, illustration, and sculpting, Pahls uses this media to take advantage of all her design skills at once. She regularly works from photos for reproductions accenting finished pieces with vintage trims and imported German embellishments. Her original designs are inspired by all manner of things including vintage holiday decorations. Ornament themes include animals, fruits, Santas, snowmen and a
parade of Halloween figures.
Her work was chosen for the permanent collection of the Ohio Governor’s residence and has been featured in Celebrate 365! Magazine.
