Lori Ann Corelis has been designing and sewing heirloom quality rabbits, bears, and other characters for nearly 30 years. As a young girl growing up in a creative family, Corelis learned to sew from her talented mother. Her sister Lanna is also an accomplished seamstress and rug hooker. Her brother is a musician and her father had a “bit of a poet” in him.

Corelis often gleans inspiration from characters in turn-of-the-century storybooks as well as from her own collection of antique toys, textiles, and Americana. She uses antique children’s clothing, fabrics, and accessories to give an early look to her work. She also creates pincushions and sewing boxes inspired by her collection of vintage sewing implements.

Corelis’s work has been seen in Country Home, Teddy Bear Review, Britain’s Teddy Bear Scene, Mary Engelbreit’s Home Companion, Australian Homespun, and Art Doll Quarterly. She is honored to add to that list the Early American Life Directory of Traditional American Crafts, for which she has been chosen every year since 2006.

She lives in central Ohio with her husband, Michael. They have three children and a silly Australian shepherd named Lacy Lu, who keeps Corelis company as she stitches.
