KELLEY TAYLOR

Biography      Work Samples

Kelley Taylor, with the encouragement of her mother, designed her first teddy bear pattern just a few years ago. Her inspiration comes from the Steiff teddy bears of the early 20th Century.

Taylor loves the way each of her bears turns out. Each one has its own personality.

Taylor makes each of her bears by hand from German mohair wool felt. She stuffs each one with excelsior the way the old teddy bears were. She uses old shoe buttons or hand blown glass eyes and hand stitches the nose, mouth, and claws.

Taylor likes to use vintage accessories whenever possible, but the bears look great just by themselves, she believes.

Being a stay at home mom of two young ladies Taylor has difficulty finding time to create her bears and bunnies, but she hopes to continue making them even if she can manage only a few each year. "It is so much fun, I love every minute of it," Taylor said.
