Portrait of Fred and Priscilla Chellis

Fred & Priscilla Chellis have a long heritage in the fine furniture craft. Fred has always been impressed that pieces made by his ancestors 150-to-200 years ago could have survived so many generations of use.

Noted Fred, "Sometime between 1805 and 1855, my fourth-great grandfather, Samuel French Challis, made a slant top cherry desk. Between 1836 and 1890, my third-great grandfather, Freeman Samuel Chellis, made a set of thumb back Windsor side chairs and a dining table to go with them. I don’t know the whereabouts of the table, which my parents used when I was a kid; however the cherry desk and the side chairs are serving my family still."

Today, Fred and his wife, Priscilla, produce Windsor chairs and other pieces of period furniture with the same attention to detail and quality that Fred’s ancestors put into their work.
