Shannon McConnachie began expressing her creative nature by decorating her own homestead, but her hobby soon became a thriving home business. A Power Seller on eBay with a strong client following of primitive collectors, McConnachie enters a world of imagination using methods influenced by the pioneer way of life. Designing, sewing, hand dyeing, fabric aging techniques, choice of stuffing for her popular dolls and unique needfuls, all contribute to a finished product that creates smiles and delights her
The fabrics used for her various creations are often early homespun, wool, or linens which are further aged to achieve a worn, muted color that blends in seamlessly with antiques. McConnachie is best known on eBay for her "primitive brown" fabrics, easy-to-follow patterns, prairie dolls, make-dos, and her impressive sock dolls and cats. An avid reader of publications related to traditional crafts, folk art, and country decor, she is always experimenting and improving her techniques.
The rewards of doing what she loves has created many positive results for McConnachie. She is able to stay at home with her son, Clay, work with husband James on various wood projects, and on a daily basis, experience special friendships with other primitive collectors. For McConnachie it's a dream come true that creates feelings of pure joy.
Even the name of her business, Sweet Liberty Homestead, has special meaning. Born on flag day, McConnachie has a deep affection for her country. Her beloved grandfather, "Pampa" Walker, was a major influence in her life. Flags were of importance to this kind hearted man and he proudly displayed them in his home and church.
