Lucy Webber has been making cotton batting ornaments since 1992. She has always been a craft person and has worked in many mediums. She wanted to expand on her talent, so she offered her first ornaments to a small local shop, and was offered criticism and acceptance.
Webber is self-taught and her ornaments are based on the study of antique German ornaments and literature. One of her strongest inspirations was joining the "Golden Glow of Christmas Past" because it enabled her to view and study old Christmas ornaments.
Webber uses traditional materials, incorporating as much original material as is still available. She also hand dyes the cotton as was past practice. Truly Victorian Mercantile awarded Lucy first place in their 1992 Christmas ornament contest. In 2002, Webber was featured on Martha Stewart Living's Christmas show.
Webber wishes to continue making quality Christmas ornaments and when ready, would love to pass this dying craft on to future generations.
