Larry Crossan works in a stone barn located on the banks of the historic Brandywine Creek using the designs, materials, and techniques of colonial craftsmen to produce fine handcrafted furniture. Since 1982 he had built 18th century reproductions, each of which is designed and made to order. He works in any of the colonial styles, including William and Mary, Queen Anne, Chippendale, Hepplewhite, and Sheraton.
Because each piece is custom made, the choice of wood, finish color, and details all vary with the order. Each piece starts with individually selected hard woods that are hand planed and hand scraped. All dovetails are hand cut. Finishes are applied and rubbed out by hand to enhance the figure and warm colors of the wood.
Crossan was first selected for the Directory of Traditional Crafts in 1994 and has appeared in the Directory nearly every year since then. He is a juried member of the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen/
