Jonathan Gibson is a second-generation pewterer who enjoys making reproductions and adaptations of 18th- and 19th-Century pewter wares in his shop in Hillsborough Center, New Hampshire.
Each of Gibson’s 125-plus pieces of traditional and contemporary pewter is lead free and made with hands-on care, whether cast, hammered, or spun. Visitors to Gibson Pewtershop, open year-round, are always welcome to watch work in progress.
The Gibson Fruit Bowl and Woodgrain Beaker have been added to the permanent collection of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Two Christmas ornaments he made for former President and Mrs. Bill Clinton are now in the Smithsonian. His reproduction Lacemaker’s Lamp won the Steven’s Metal Award in 2003 at the 23rd Annual Juried Exhibit of the League of NH Craftsmen.
