Barbara Bunsey began painting over 25 years ago, studying with many nationally- and internationally-known decorative artists over the years, and her designs have been featured in many decorative painting magazines.

While Bunsey has received many accolades as a decorative artist, those she esteems most highly include the honor of having an ornament she made selected for the official White House Christmas Tree in 2004 and meeting First Lady Laura Bush at a reception for the artists whose ornaments were chosen. In 2005 Bunsey painted an ornament to grace the Christmas tree at the Library of Congress. And in 2008 Barbara was one of four artists contacted by the Society of Decorative Painters asked to submit a design to Mrs. Laura Bush.

In addition, Bunsey was chosen to paint 1,010 ornaments which President and Mrs. Bush used as gifts to family, friends, and White House staff and attended a reception at the White House hosted by President and Mrs. Bush.

Bunsey is very involved in her church and community, and was instrumental in bringing the Prayer Shawl Ministry and Elizabeth Ministry to her parish, for which she is a member of the guitar group, performs solo singing, and serves as Eucharistic Minister. Bunsey is also involved with the Olde Northfield Historic Preservation Association and Nordonia Hills Garden Club where she has served as a board member.

Bunsey has been selected for the Directory of Traditional American Crafts by Early American Life Magazine since 2004.
