Portrait of Sue Hoss Sue Hoss has been making hooked rugs since 1999. She started her company Hoss-Town Cottage Classics (now known as Hoss-Town) in 2000 to promote this art in northern Illinois. According to Hoss, her designs are often inspired by her children's art. Sue dyes her own wool to give her rugs the look of antiques, using 100% wool for the most part to develop rich and durable rugs.

A member of the Association of Traditional Hooking Artists (ATHA), Hoss has written articles for the ATHA newsletter and Rug Hooking Magazine. One of the commercial design Hoss hooked was featured in Celebrations XIV (2004), a book published by Rug Hooking magazine that featured 30 rugs which had been juried and selected by judges in the field.

Hoss has taught the hooking of primitive rugs through the Rock Valley Community College Continuing Education Program and the Quilters Haven, Rockford, Illinois. Hoss also has exhibited her rugs at shows throughout the Midwest. She has been listed in the Directory of Traditional American Crafts in 2003, 2004, and 2006.

Hoss lives with her family in Rockford, Illinois, and considers her life to be very blessed despite her busy schedules. "I am thankful to God for blessing me with a wonderful husband and fantastic children," she said. "I would be remiss if I didn't give credit and thanks to the Lord for blessing me with some artistic abilities. I owe it all to Him!"
