Charles Boland moved to West Virginia over a decade ago. Originally a native of Texas, he soon fell in love with the Appalachian culture and the colonial heritage of the region. Naturally, the Windsor chair became the link between his woodworking skills, his love of history, and his newfound desire to study, replicate, and demonstrate this 18th Century American craft.
Boland makes every attempt to recapture, replicate, and stay true to the methods that those early craftsmen used to produce the "bench-made" Windsor chair over 200 years ago, and he enjoys sharing his knowledge of early chairmaking and chairmakers of his area. He is available to historical sites, schools, and other similar organization in his area for demonstrations and talks.
