Show Report: Colonial Craftsmen’s Faire

By Sue Miller

The Colonial Craftsmen’s Faire at Endview Plantation, Virginia, on May 16 and 17, had some top-of-the-line crafters in period attire demonstrating their skills. Despite the valiant efforts of the 7th Virginia Regiment of the Continental Line, Mother Nature took charge of the event with the threat of storms early Saturday and a steady rain on Sunday. Attendance was not what the promoters had hoped.

The Itinerant Band entertained and Dr. Bloodworth offered to treat our ills with a bloodletting—I don’t believe he had many takers! Nina Mason’s historic character dolls were stunning. I had trouble staying away from the jewelry (one of my many weaknesses) of both the goldsmith and the silversmith.

Despite our high spirits and high hopes, we bowed to the higher power and packed up early on Sunday. This is definitely a fun event to keep in mind for next year.
